Daily Sports Smile Rewind: Christian Yelich purchases 10,000 tickets for Brewers fans

Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich provided fans with a special treat on Wednesday. Yelich, the 2018 National League MVP, purchased 10,000 tickets for the Brewers final homestand against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fans were able to get up to four tickets per game to attend the four-game series beginning Sept. 20. The tickets went live on the Brewers official website at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the tickets were available on a first come, first serve basis.

By noon, the Brewers announced the tickets were sold out. Fans that received a ticket will receive it digitally by Friday.

"The tickets are all gone!" the Brewers tweeted. "Thanks again to @ChristianYelich for helping get the Crew out to the ballpark."

The Brewers sit atop the NL Central standings. They have seven games remaining with the Cardinals this season. The upcoming homestand will feature 10 games against the Chicago Cubs, Cardinals and the New York Mets.

Yelich has a key role in the Brewers offense with eight home runs and 45 RBIs this season. On Wednesday, the Brewers fell to the Detroit Tigers. They will be off on Thursday before starting the homestand on Friday night.
