Houston Texans work out veteran cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick

The Houston Texans brought in NFL veteran cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick for a workout Friday morning, a league official told USA TODAY Sports+ senior insider Josina Anderson. The Texans are looking to solidify their secondary after trading cornerback Bradley Roby to the New Orleans Saints. 

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport first reported the news. 

Kirkpatrick has played nine NFL seasons. He spent the 2020 season with the Arizona Cardinals after beginning his career with the Cincinnati Bengals. With the Cardinals, Kirkpatrick played in 14 games (11 starts). He tallied 56 tackles, seven pass breakups and three interceptions. 

The Texans are the latest team interested in Kirkpatrick. He had previous workouts with the Saints, San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots this offseason. 

Anderson later confirmed Friday that Kirkpatrick completed his workout with the Texans as evaluates his options. future talks develop.
