San Francisco 49ers cornerback Josh Norman spent Sunday night at a local hospital after suffering a chest injury against the Green Bay Packers.

Norman went to the hospital after spitting up blood, NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo reported Monday.

The injury occurred in the second quarter of the game. Norman did not return as the 49ers fell 30-28 on a last-second field goal.

Norman was still in the hospital awaiting discharge as of early this morning, a league official told USA TODAY Sports+ Senior Insider Josina Anderson.

The Pro Bowl cornerback underwent several tests at the hospital, and NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported Norman has two bruised lungs.

Norman signed with the 49ers earlier this month. He added veteran experience to a secondary depleted with injuries. Norman made the start against the Packers and forced a fumble.
