Battle Cry

A loud sound introduces itself in a boastful manner.

Seeping in and out of the bleachers, its presence is felt.

Naughty by nature, but smooth as a belt.

The aura is deafening as it chooses itself.

Like a wealthy businessman, the tone is too rich.

Yet, the crowd can’t get enough. It scratches their itch.

The stadium scurries at first sight. Nervously shaking like a first date night.

The band. The band. The band is on the field.

Right in the middle of play.

A coach is beside himself, asking “why me” today.

It’s halftime and this is their show.

The takeover was apparent after three zeroes.

The drum majors rush on the field.

The Majorettes follow.

The tubas enter last, running as fast as a swallow.

1-2-3 …. The loud sound begins again.

The crowd starts to yell, almost in a trance caused by bells.

Fireworks start to fly as flags are thrown towards the sky.

Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

This is their fight song.

On the field of battle, they sing all night long.

15 minutes are up and the show starts to end.

It’s never really over as the battle cry always wins.

We all have our signature that  comes to mind.

The experience is special and one of a kind.

Let’s Go …

It’s up to you to finish that line.
