Daily Sports Smile: Colts CB Kenny Moore II distributes 300 winter coats to local youth
Indianapolis Colts cornerback Kenny Moore II continues to make a big impact on his community. This month, Moore distributed 300 winter coats to local youth in Indianapolis. He held a drive-thru event for families to receive the coats and a warm meal as well.
Moore partnered with local organizations for the special event. It was one of several ways that Moore gave back during the holiday season. The talented cornerback also surprised two families in his hometown of Valdosta, GA with Christmas gifts and a holiday meal.
For his great work, Moore was nominated for the 2021 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. It is a prestigious award that honors players for their work on and off the field.
Moore learned of the nomination after his mom surprised him at the team facility. He said the nomination is a testament to those that have always supported him.
"It means a lot to me, but I feel like it's a testament to the community that I was raised in and the family that has raised me to come this far," Moore said via the Colts official website. "I feel like it takes a village to raise a child and to be the man that I am right now, it's taken a whole lot of people."
Moore will wear a special helmet decal in recognition of the award.
This season, he's made major strides on the field. He recently earned his first Pro Bowl selection after recording 87 tackles, five tackles for loss, one forced fumble and four interceptions.
"He's a consistent giver," Colts head coach Frank Reich said. "He's always in the community giving back – not just when the cameras are on, but just all the time. He's the heart and soul of what we're about as an organization and as a team."
