Damarri Mathis brings physical, aggressive playing style to Broncos
Although his physical, aggressive playing style while at the University of Pittsburgh is what made him an early Day 3 pick. Yinz shouldn’t count him out.
Talking about his aforementioned aggressive style at rookie minicamp, Mathis said, “That’s just been instilled in me since I was little. I’ve always been playing like that. Even in little league, I never played flag football.
“I jumped straight to pads. I always wanted to be physical and aggressive. I guess I get that from both sides of my family — my mom and my dad. They're both like that, they both played sports and they're athletic. That’s just always stuck with me, and it’s translated all the way to this point.”
The Broncos will begin OTAs this week, giving Mathis a chance to wow his coaches. For reference, the CB room most notably features Patrick Surtain, Ronald Darby and K'Wuan Williams. Good luck, rook.
