Coming off the best postseason run in program history, the Indiana women's basketball team received comparable recognition in the Associated Press preseason poll on Tuesday.

The Hoosiers, who reached the Elite Eight last March, will begin the 2021-22 season ranked No. 8 in the country. It is IU's highest-ever ranking, surpassing the No. 9 spot the Hoosiers reached in Week 16 of last season before finishing the year at No. 12.

Indiana has now been ranked a program-record 38 consecutive weeks dating back to the 2019-20 campaign.

With all five starters returning, including All-Americans Mackenzie Holmes and Grace Berger, hopes are high for eighth-year head coach Teri Moren's Hoosiers to meet or exceed the previous season's accomplishments.

The schedule includes games against preseason No. 3 and defending national champ Stanford, No. 4 Maryland, No. 5 North Carolina State, No. 9 Iowa, No. 11 Michigan, No. 13 Kentucky and No. 17 Ohio State.

Indiana will host UIndy in exhibition play on Nov. 5 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall and begin the regular season on Nov. 10 at Butler.
