IU women's basketball to host N.C. State in Sweet Sixteen rematch
Matchups for the 2021 Big Ten/ACC Challenge were announced on Tuesday, and it will be a familiar foe for the Indiana women's basketball team.
The Hoosiers will host North Carolina State on Dec. 2 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in a rematch of last March's Sweet Sixteen game in San Antonio. IU upset the top-seeded Wolfpack in that game at the Alamodome, 73-70, to advance to the Elite Eight for the first time in school history. All five Indiana starters scored in double figures in that game and all five starters return for the Hoosiers in 2021-22, led by All-Americans Mackenzie Holmes and Grace Berger.
The game will come a week after IU plays defending national champion Stanford as part of the Pink Flamingo Championship in the Bahamas.
Indiana holds an 8-5 record in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and is on a two-game winning streak in the event, which was not held in 2020 due to COVID-19. This will be the first home game for IU since hosting Louisville in 2017 and the second meeting with N.C. State in the event. The Wolfpack won, 84-70, in Raleigh, N.C., in 2016.
Other matchups will be North Carolina at Minnesota, Nebraska at Wake Forest, Ohio State at Syracuse, Georgia Tech at Purdue, Rutgers at Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech at Wisconsin, Florida State at Illinois, Iowa at Duke, Miami at Maryland, Michigan at Louisville, Notre Dame at Michigan State, Northwestern at Clemson and Penn State at Boston College.
Game times and TV designations will be announced at a later date.
