Vanderbilt football on Monday previewed its new uniforms for the 2021 season.

One new jersey is white with black trim and numbers and gold lettering. The other is black with gold trim and lettering and white numbers. Both jerseys were shown paired with both white and gold pants.

The video previewing the uniforms also showed new helmets. Instead of the chain design with the star "V" the Commodores used to use, the new helmets are gold with black and white stripes and a large black "V" on the side.

Clark Lea has frequently preached his intentions to rebuild Vanderbilt from the ground up. He has referred to the 2021 team as "Team 1."

The new look fits well with Lea's theme of restarting.

"I love them," Lea said of the uniforms Monday night. "I'm proud of them, I'm proud of the design, I'm proud of the black and gold. I think we have the best colors in all of sports and I want those featured and I want people to turn the TV on and see Vanderbilt and know it's Vanderbilt they're looking at. I think that V is so strong and we want to feature that as we look to build the program anew. And so we're proud of that, the players are excited for it, and what we wanna do is work to build pride in that uniform."
