Vanderbilt releases renderings for football, basketball, McGugin Center upgrades
A new end zone facility will replace the current south end zone seating bowl at Vanderbilt Stadium, containing a new locker room, an athlete dining facility and new premium seating options. Vanderbilt will upgrade the stadium video board and renovate the concourse.
McGugin Center, which contains the football offices, locker rooms and weight rooms, will expand to contain a new locker room and weight room for football and Olympic sports and a training room for all sports. It will also include an academic facility, a sports science lab, nutrition stations, meeting room and offices.
A new indoor football practice facility will be constructed at the location of the current outdoor field next to McGugin Center.
Vanderbilt plans to build a new basketball operations center in the north end zone of Vanderbilt Stadium that contains two practice gyms as well as new locker rooms and lounges, a weight room and training facility.
The expansion will also contain football upgrades, including premium seating and hospitality options as well as a new visiting locker room.
Vanderbilt hopes to begin preliminary work in the first quarter of 2022 and break ground next fall.
Vanderbilt also said in a release that it was pursuing options for upgrades of the baseball and tennis facilities, however these potential upgrades would come later in the project.
