Sportsnaut: Chiefs 27, Chargers 23

Vincent Frank writes: "In his first NFL action back in Week 2 of the 2020 season, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert almost knocked off Kansas City. They lost by the score of 23-20 at home. This set the stage for a surprisingly competitive Los Angeles team under the rookie quarterback. Don’t expect that to change in 2021. Unfortunately, Los Angeles’ loss to the Cowboys last week coupled with Kansas City’s ugly loss to Baltimore last week leads us to believe the Chiefs will find a way to rebound and come out on top."

Play Picks: Take the Chargers with the points against the Chiefs

Brian Sausa writes: "The Chargers visiting the Chiefs at Arrowhead is another game that could undoubtedly produce some fireworks. The Chiefs opened at -7.5, which is tied for the largest opening line of the week. Kansas City’s offense and Patrick Mahomes need no introduction, and Los Angeles QB Justin Herbert is becoming a household name himself. The Chargers are installing a new offense but with all its firepower, things could be clicking by Week 3 and this could be an exciting, high-scoring game."

Top Bet:  Chiefs 28, Chargers 24

It writes: "Other teams would have gone 0-2 to start the season with the kind of defense the Chiefs have shown so far. But the Chiefs are 1-1 because they have the offense to make up for their shortcomings on the other end of the field. Kansas City had to come from behind in Week 1’s 33-29 home win over the Cleveland Browns then lost to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, 36-35. If the Chiefs continue to struggle on defense in Week 3 and the game turns into a shootout, Patrick Mahomes and company should have the edge. Mahomes is just on another level, almost like the Stephen Curry version of the NFL. He now has 680 passing yards and six touchdowns against just an interception in two games, while completing 76.1 percent of his passes. Also look for the Chiefs’ rushing attack, with running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire licking his chops over the prospect of facing LA’s defense that allowed Dallas to produce 198 rushing yards and two touchdowns."

Can Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers upset the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3 of the 2021 NFL season?

Sportsnaut: Chiefs 27, Chargers 21

Matt Johnson writes: "Kansas City is still the class of the division and the AFC, but Los Angeles will challenge them in 2021 and well beyond. Herbert went toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes and nearly beat him as a rookie. With more experience and a better supporting cast, this could be the NFL’s next great quarterback rivalry. But, with this game played in Kansas City, the Chiefs get the edge."

OC Register: Chiefs will beat Chargers in Week 3

Gilbert Manzano writes: "Facing Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ dominant offense early in the season won’t do the Chargers’ new-look defense any favors. Mahomes will likely have a big outing at home."
