In case you haven't heard, many Browns players will be rooting for wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. when he and the Los Angeles Rams face the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI on Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

As receiver Anthony Schwartz explained to the Beacon Journal recently, the divorce Beckham forced from the Browns in early November didn't change the way a significant number of his former teammates in Cleveland feel about him.

Of course, receiver Jarvis Landry still has Beckham's back. They met when they were 16 and became roommates and teammates at Louisiana State University. They are close friends.

Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry, left, encouraged friend and former teammate Odell Beckham Jr., right, to "go get that ring" during a Super Bowl news conference with Beckham on Monday.

Their bond was on public display Monday evening during virtual Super Bowl availability. Landry was introduced as a special guest about midway through the 47-minute Zoom session and offered words of motivation for OBJ.

"You're deserving of this moment, bro," Landry said. "You put countless hours to where you are today, and I witnessed it all firsthand. You have scars to show for where you are today. This is a dream that you are actually turning into reality, and I wanted to come on here and just let you know that I'm proud of you, bro. There's so many people supporting you every step of the way.

"I love you, and go get that ring. Go get that ring, dog. Go get that ring."

Beckham said Landry's words gave him chills.

"Besides pops, there's no man who ever came into my life and has had the affect and impact that you have had to make me a better person, player, man, soon-to-be father, brother, lover," Beckham told Landry. "You've shown me the light, dog, and I love you so much, bro, and this moment is for us, bro. This is everything we've ever talked about, dog. So I appreciate you coming on here."

Beckham spoke at length about choosing the Rams after the Browns released him, listing the Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints among the other possibilities he encountered as a free agent.

But OBJ didn't address the reasons behind his messy exit from Cleveland. Three longtime Browns beat writers were on the Zoom session, but their requests to ask questions were not granted.

Beckham said he remembers watching the Super Bowl last year while he rehabilitated from a torn ACL and telling himself, "I’m gonna play in that Super Bowl next year in Los Angeles."

Beckham said at the time he could not have known his trip to the Super Bowl would be with the Rams — "I could’ve never seen it," he said — but he obviously feels fortunate to have landed with them.

"I felt like this was home," Beckham said. "I felt like this was right."
