The Spartans have fired out of the box with head coach Mel Tucker, going 2-0 straight up/1-0-1 against the spread. They surprised Northwestern Sept. 3 in Evanston, Ill., running all over the Wildcats for a 38-21 win as 3-point underdogs. RB Kenneth Walker III has run for 321 yards and 5 scores already through two games.
The Hurricanes were manhandled by Alabama 44-13 in neutral-site game in Atlanta to open the season. Miami returned home and barely escaped against Appalachian State 25-23 last week.

Miami 27, Michigan State 24
It's hard to trust Miami (-250) to win straight up, especially when risking two and a half times your potential return. The Hurricanes just haven't look as advertised.
MICHIGAN STATE +6.5 (-108) is a good play. MSU has an opportunity to win this game outright if it can establish the run early. The big concern for Sparty is if they can withstand the heat and humidity of South Florida for a full 60 minutes.
Miami has managed just 19.0 PPG on offense and needs to be better, particularly through the air. Defensively, it has allowed 33.5 PPG, and it needs to be better on this side of the ball, too.
There are actually more questions with the Hurricanes than the Spartans. Not many envisioned that heading into Week 3.
UNDER 56.5 (- 110) is worth a look, especially because Miami's offense has struggled during the early going. It will be facing a Michigan State defense that has allowed just 352.0 total yards per game and 17.5 PPG.
Plus, Sparty likes to run. That runs the clock, which Under bettors absolutely love.
