Having been on the outside looking in, Michigan finally broke into the Top 25 of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports, following a 31-10 win over Washington.

Michigan is led by the RB duo of Blake Corum and Hassan Haskins. They combined for 326 rushing yards with 4 touchdowns in the Washington win. This is a run-heavy offense that has trampled its two opponents this season.

As for Northern Illinois, it upset Georgia Tech 22-21 to kick the season off but fell 50-43 last week in a shootout against visiting Wyoming. The Huskies are also primarily a run offense. RB Harrison Waylee went for 179 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns in their Week 2 defeat.

Northern Illinois at Michigan odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan 42, Northern Illinois 21

Money line

PASS.

Michigan (-3000) has disappointed the last couple of seasons, and for 30 times your money, I'd never think about doing that.

If you want to include it in a parlay, fine, but stay away from it straight up.

Against the spread

"LEAN" to NORTHERN ILLINOIS +26.5 (-103) as the Huskies may shock some people Saturday.

Do I think the Huskies will win? Not a chance, but they have a dynamic run game. Washington threw the ball on Michigan. Northern Illinois is going to try to do the opposite.

NIU had two close, hard-fought games and should be able to move the chains often. Given how run-heavy this game should be, the clock may also move quickly, helping the team projected to lose by four scores.

Northern Illinois hasn't lost by more than 7 points, and Waylee has run for 100-plus yards in both games. He's a skilled back and should fine some holes in the Michigan defense.

Over/Under

BETOVER 54.5 (-108) as the Michigan offense has been a high-octane machine lately.

With two elite backs, Michigan has put up a combined 78 points through its first two games. Michigan has run for over 250 yards and scored 31 points or more in each of their first two games.

On top of Michigan scoring at will, Northern Illinois has yet to score under 20 in a game this season, posting 43 in its last outing.

Both offenses haven't been slowed down. This game should reflect the same form they've shown so far this season. Expect a high-scoring game in Ann Arbor, Mich., Saturday.
