USC at Washington State odds, picks and prediction
The USC Trojans (1-1, 0-1 Pac-12) and Washington State Cougars (1-1, 0-0) square off Saturday at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Wash. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the USC at Washington State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.
It's been a tumultuous week for USC as head coach Clay Helton was fired three days after its 42-28 loss to Stanford as an 18-point favorite last Saturday. The Trojans barely outgained San Jose State 416-376 in their opener as well, so they haven't looked good in either of their first two games.
Washington State hasn't either. It lost to 26-23 to Utah State in Week 1, and while Week 2 was a comfortable 44-24 win over Portland State, the Cougars were 31-point favorites in that contest. The defense allowed 420 yards to Portland State last week. It will face a much stiffer test against USC's offense this time around.

USC at Washington State odds, lines, picks and predictions
USC 31, Washington State 27
We'd be more comfortable taking the points, but a small-unit, value-based play on WASHINGTON STATE (+250) is worth a shot given all that USC has had to deal with this week.
Washington State hasn't covered in any of its last five games, but USC is getting a lot of points for a team that hasn't shown much fight in either of its first two games of this season.
How focused will the Trojans be coming off a blowout loss to a top rival (as a heavy favorite) with a new head coach on the road?
Look for WASHINGTON STATE +8.5 (-108) to be the more focused team and put up enough points to cover.
Both teams are 1-1 on the Over/Under this year, though USC hit the Under in five of its six games last season.
The UNDER 61.5 (-105) is our call in what looks like a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon in Pullman.
