The Phoenix Mercury face a crucial Game 3 against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday afternoon. The best-of-5 series is tied at 1-1 with the Mercury looking to hold serve at home.

On Saturday, Mercury fans got a special surprise from Phoenix Suns star Chris Paul. The talented point guard purchased 500 tickets for fans to attend Game 3. The tickets will be available Sunday on a first-come, first-serve basis starting at 10:30 a.m. PT at the Desert Financial Arena.

Game 3 will tipoff at 12:00 p.m. PT on ABC.

Paul is a big WNBA supporter. He is regularly seen at games and has championed for more coverage and viewership. Last season, Paul wore Mercury star Skylar Diggins-Smith’s jersey prior to a regular season game against the Portland Trailblazers.

The Mercury walked away with a 117-91 victory in Game 2. Diana Taurasi scored 37 points and added six rebounds in the winning effort. Brittney Griner added 25 points and Diggins-Smith chipped in with 17 points on 6 of 12 shooting.

If the Mercury win Sunday, they have a good chance to clinch a WNBA Finals spot in Game 4 on Wednesday night.

Game 4 will be a special doubleheader at the Footprint Center. The Suns will face the Los Angeles Lakers in a preseason game 3:00 p.m. PT and Game 4 will follow at 7:00 p.m. PT.

“There were a lot of moving parts and a number of groups including the NBA and WNBA, the Lakers and their local broadcast partner, and ESPN that had to work together to make this happen,” Suns President/CEO Jason Rowley told the Arizona Republic. “In the end, all parties should be proud to be a part of this historic doubleheader.”

This season, the Mercury finished 19-13 in the regular season. They defeated the New York Liberty and the Seattle Storm in their 2021 playoff journey.
